Lily Allen celebrates chart success on stage at T

'Smile' is number one

Lily Allen has celebrated scoring her first UK Number One live on stage at T In The Park today (July 9).

The singer’s single ‘Smile’ has topped the charts, beating off the likes of Razorlight’s ‘In The Morning’, to claim poll position in this week’s countdown.

However with Allen playing to a packed out Futures Stage as the chart was announced, she turned her festival set into a celebration party.

Presented with a bottle of champagne on stage, Allen told the audience: “You know what this means? My song has just made it to Number One! It’s nice to share it with you lot.”

Speaking to NME.COM, the singer confirmed she only found out she’d secured the top spot while on stage.

“I’d been told I would probably be Number One but I didn’t know for definite,” Allen said. “So I didn’t know for sure until my manager told me while I was on stage. It’s brilliant!”

With the large crowd spilling out of the tent, ‘Smile’ was greeted by huge applause, while Allen included the likes of ‘LDN’, ‘Nan You’re A Window Shopper’ and ‘Littlest Things’ as she previewed songs from her forthcoming album ‘Alright, Still’.
