The Belfast band were forced to cancel their appearance at the Suffolk festival due to illness
As reported earlier today (July 16), Alex Trimble of Two Door Cinema Club is in hospital and unable to perform at the festival in their slot at the top of the bill on Friday night. They will be replaced by Allen, who said she is “more than happy” to step in at the last minute.
“So sorry to hear about Alex from Two Door Cinema Club,” she said in a statement. “However I am more than happy to step in. I’ve never been to Latitude, but I hear it’s fabulous and I can’t wait to get my heels on for some serious dancing action on Friday evening – so, so excited.”
Fans at the festival in Suffolk have also been promised a surprise guest performance on Friday evening.
Managing Director of the event’s organisers Festival Republic said: “It is with deep sadness that our longstanding supporters and Friday night headliner Two Door Cinema Club have had to cancel their performance under advice of doctors. We wish Alex all the best and a speedy recovery.”
“We are honoured that Lily Allen is able to step in at the last minute and would like to thank her for filling the headline slot. After her show-stopping performance at Glastonbury Lily was a natural choice, the Latitude audience are in for something really spectacular.”
Two Door Cinema Club have also cancelled a warm-up gig in Bournemouth on Thursday (July 17).
Other acts on the Latitude bill include Editors, James, Crystal Fighters, Kelis, The Afghan Whigs, Tinariwen, Mogwai, Lykke Li, The War On Drugs, Slowdive, Temples, Parquet Courts, George Ezra, Conor Oberst and Tom Vek.
Latitude 2014 will take place from July 17-20 at Henham Park in Southwold, Suffolk.
