Singer scores second chart-topping album with her third album
Lily Allen‘s ‘Sheezus’ is this week’s No 1 on the Official Albums Chart.
The singer’s third album went straight to the top of the chart, outselling both Gary Barlow’s ‘Since I Saw You Last’, which leaped 36 places to No 2 following a recent BBC documentary, and ‘Caustic Love’ by Paolo Nutini, which had previously held the No 1 spot and become the year’s fastest-selling album.
Allen came out of semi-retirement in 2013 to release a song for John Lewis’ Christmas TV ad campaign. It went to No 1 and was followed by her comeback single proper ‘Hard Out Here’, ‘Air Balloon’, ‘Our Time’ and title track ‘Sheezus’.
Paloma Faith holds firm at No 4 with ‘A Perfect Contradiction’, while American rock band Black Stone Cherry score their highest chart placing to date with ‘Magic Mountain’ new at No 5. The Horrors return to the Official Albums Chart after a three-year absence with ‘Luminous’ going in at No 6. In other news, Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys scored his highest solo chart position this week with ‘American Interior’ in at No 24.
In the Singles Chart, Dutch hip-hop star Mr Probz reclaims the No 1 spot with ‘Waves’.
