Lily Allen confirms her new album will be called ‘Sheezus’

'It's an homage, not a piss take' she tweeted of the Kanye West referencing title

Lily Allen has confirmed that her new album will be titled ‘Sheezus’.

The pop singer said of the name of her third album, which references Kanye West‘s 2013 LP ‘Yeezus’: “It’s an homage, not a piss take” on Twitter this evening (February 21).

It was also revealed on Lilyallenmusic.com/sheezus that the record will come out in Spring. At the Brit Awards on Wednesday night, Allen explained that she had delivered her finished third album to her record label, Regal/Parlophone earlier that day (February 19). The record follows 2006’s ‘Alright, Still’ and 2009’s ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’.

Earlier this month Allen unveiled the video for her song ‘Air Balloon’, which is expected to be on the new album. The song will be released as a single on March 2, and follows her Number One cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ and ‘Hard Out Here’. The video was shot in Cape Town and was directed by That Go.

Allen also unveiled another new track recently, called ‘L8 CMMR’, which features on the soundtrack of the current series of Girls. Commenting on why she contributed music to the series, Allen said: “I think the show is brilliant, so it was more or less a no brainer for me.”

Lily Allen will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of a one-off charity show this April. The singer will play live on April 1 as part of children’s charity Coram‘s City Rocks event. Coram is the world’s oldest children’s charity and celebrates its 275th birthday in 2014.
