Listen to ‘I Like That’, the new single from Janelle Monae

Here's Janelle...

Janelle Monae has unveiled ‘I Like That’, the latest single to be taken from forthcoming album ‘Dirty Computer’.

The track is the fourth single to emerge from the record, and it sees Monae for a slinking slice of laid back R&B and Soul. You can listen to it in full below.

It’s quite the contrast to the upbeat jams of ‘Make Me Feel‘, which was released in February, and the funk of Grimes-featuring ‘Pynk’.

The former drew comparisons to Prince, and it was later claimed that the late music icon may have contributed synths on the song.

Lenka Paris, Prince’s DJ, wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post that the late icon had played her the synth line before his death. Describing it as “so futuristic and so good”, Paris said: “Last night I hear Janelle Monae’s new song. As soon as the synth came in, I went, ‘Oh shit! That’s it!’ He gave that to her.

She continued to call Prince “such a pioneer, and so ahead of his time.”

Paris also added that she had listened to Monáe’s interview on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, and said ‘Make Me Feel’ “is brilliant”.
