Lorde beats Justin Bieber to top Billboard poll of most influential musicians under the age of 21

5 Seconds of Summer and Earl Sweatshirt also feature on the list

Lorde has topped Billboard magazine’s list of the most powerful young musicians.

The singer beat Justin Bieber and boyband 5 Seconds Of Summer to the top of the poll, which ranks music’s 21 most powerful artists under the age of 21.

Elsewhere on the list is Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt, as well as Dutch DJ Martin Garrix and X Factor girl group Fifth Harmony.

Lorde is set to release her new song ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ next Monday (September 29).

The track will feature on the soundtrack to the forthcoming Hunger Games film and sees the teenage singer teaming up with Adele and Coldplay producer Paul Epworth. The song was recorded at New Jersey’s Lakehouse Recording Studios after the premises were recommended to the singer by Bruce Springsteen. The song will play over the closing credits of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
