Teenage singer performs 'Flashing Lights' and 'Heavenly Father' live
Footage of the New Zealand born singer’s appearance at the Mann Performing Arts Centre in Philadelphia on September 5 has emerged online as Lorde brought her Pure Heroine tour to America. During the tour she has been performing a brief excerpt of Kanye West’s ‘Flashing Lights’ before her own song ‘Bravado’.
Later on in the show, Lorde introduced another cover; this time Bon Iver’s ‘Heavenly Father.’ Prior to playing the song, which is taken from the soundtrack to Zach Braff’s new film Wish I Was Here, she said: “It’s a song about having faith in someone, anyone, yourself.”
In July of this year, Lorde revealed that she will curate the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. The singer will work on the music for the third film adaptation from the best-selling book series and will also provide the lead single for the soundtrack, which will be released on November 21.
It was subsequently revealed that the single was produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, Coldplay). The song was recorded at New Jersey’s Lakehouse Recording Studios with the premises coming recommended to the singer by Bruce Springsteen.
