Watch Lorde cover two Kanye West songs in his hometown of Chicago

Singer tells crowd that "it must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye"

Lorde covered Kanye West‘s ‘Love Lockdown’ and ‘Runaway’ at a show in Chicago on Tuesday night (March 27).

The New Zealand singer played a gig at the city’s Allstate Arena, telling the crowd during the show that “it must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West”.

Following an a cappella rendition of ‘Love Lockdown’, Lorde also interpolated West’s ‘Runaway’ lyrics into her song ‘Liability’. Watch both performances in the clips below.

Lorde and Kanye have worked together in the past, with West reworking her Hunger Games track ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ in 2014.

Earlier in March, Lorde covered Frank Ocean and performed an unreleased song at a live show in Milwaukee.

During the gig, Lorde covered Ocean’s ‘Blonde’ cut ‘Solo’ and played an unheard number. The latter was an unreleased song written during her ‘Melodrama’ album sessions, with its title not currently known.

Lorde is currently on tour with Run The Jewels, who she recently teamed up with for a remix of ‘Supercut’. Mitski is also supporting for the North American dates.

Last month saw Lorde win the Best International Solo Artist prize at the VO5 NME Awards 2018. She couldn’t attend the ceremony, but you can see the message she sent in the clip above.
