"First of all you are not really that supreme"
Rapper Lupe Fiasco has posted an open letter to ‘White Supremacy’ that criticises those who advocate the belief.
In response to the recent tragedy in South Carolina and an alleged manifesto penned by Dylann Roof – the 21-year-old charged with entering a church in Charleston on Wednesday (June 17) and murdering nine black parishioners – Lupe uses the piece to reject the abhorrent idea that whites are somehow superior to other races, going into detail as to why this is a fraudulent mindset.
“There is nothing about you biologically or physically that denotes an innate mode of supremacy,” the 33-year-old Chicago rapper writes. “For that matter there is also nothing about you psychologically, philosophically, cognitively, academically, socially, architecturally, culturally or even financially that signifies a higher position above any other group. And to be diplomatic there is nothing about you that denotes innate inferiority as well. So what you really are is something in the middle. You are regular.”
The letter was laid out on through three Instagram posts that feature photographs of Roof himself. Scroll down to read the piece in full.
During a special guest performance at 107.9’s Birthday Bash in Atlanta last night (June 20), Kanye West addressed racism in America, rapping: “See that’s the magic of racism, it works on itself / We hate each other, screw each other, kill each other / When we can’t kill nobody else.”
