M83 add more dates to 2016 tour, continue search for Keyboardist

US and European shows booked up ahead of 'eclectic' new album

M83 have announced 15 new dates in their upcoming tour of North America and Europe, it was revealed today (February 16)

M83’s long awaited follow up to 2011’s ‘We’re Dreaming’ is reportedly due to land this year and the band’s core member, Anthony Gonzalez, has expanded the tour by another 15 gigs across North America.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gonzalez confirmed the news of the release and described the record as “epic” and “eclectic”.

“It’s a very strong album with a lot of eclecticism,” he said. “It’s very epic. There’s a lot of different genres that are not supposed to live together but I tried to make them live together, which is quite challenging. It’s also quite different from the previous albums, which is what I’m the most proud of.”

M83 recently released a compilation of remixes and b-sides from 2008 album ‘Saturdays = Youth’, plus reissues of that album and 2007’s ‘Digital Shades’.

The band will play festival dates at BBK Live festival in Bilbao, Spain (July 7), Lisbon’s NOS Festival (9) and Norway’s Øya Festival (August 10) besides more

Meanwhile, Gonzalez has put out an open call for a female singer-keyboardist to join the band and replace Morgan Kibby, who has parted ways with the group.

It’s not the first time the musician has advertised for a new member online. In 2011, he put out a similar call and recruited Jordan Lawlor. As Gonzalez writes in a note on the group’s website, he is still in the band today.
