Northern Lights Festival cancelled due to poor ticket sales

Madness, Maximo Park and Example were all due to play

The Northern Lights Festival, which was due to take place July 30-31, has been cancelled.

The two day bash at Seaton Park in Aberdeen has been axed due to poor ticket sales. Madness, Maximo Park and Example were among the acts due to feature at the event.

A statement on the festival’s official website Northern Lights Festival reads: “We are very sorry to announce that the Northern Lights Festival has been cancelled. To all those that supported the festival, thank you. All tickets will be refunded at point of sale. With very best wishes, the Northern Lights Team.”

The site was licensed for 25,000 people but it is thought that the event could have broken even with just 10,000 people.

An online petition has been launched in an attempt to save the event.

The cancellation comes just days after Kent’s First Days Of Freedom Festival was cancelled, also due to lack of funding.
