Manager confirms pop icon has started sessions on 'Hard Candy' follow-up

Madonna has officially started recording her new album, the singer’s manager has confirmed.

The singer began studio sessions on the follow-up to her 2008 album ‘Hard Candy’ yesterday (July 4) according to Guy Oseary.

“It’s official, Madonna‘s first day in the recording studio for the new album, very exciting,” he wrote on his official Twitter page Twitter.com/GuyOseary. “Happy 4th of July.”

Madonna is rumoured to be working with DJs A-Trak, David Guetta and Meat Loaf’s producer and songwriter Jim Steinman.

One of the other collaborators on the album is thought to be her brother-in-law Joe Henry, who co-wrote ‘Don’t Tell Me’ and ‘Jump’.

The pop icon’s last original material was the title track to her 2009 Greatest Hits retrospective, ‘Celebration’.

‘Hard Candy’ was Madonna‘s final studio album under her contract with Warners. She has since signed a new deal to release records in partnership with concert promoters Live Nation.
