Madonna gets the go ahead to adopt

Papers approved in Africa

A judge in Malawi has received an official child adoption application from Madonna.

Judge Andrew Nyirenda issued an interim order allowing the singer to adopt one-year-old orphan David Banda at a high court in Lilogwe.

An official statement by the 48-year-old singer is still to be released, although one is expected over the next 24 hours.

Yohame Banda, the boy’s father, said: “She asked me many questions. She and her husband (Guy Ritchie) seem happy with David. I am happy for him.”

Madonna promised me that as the child grows she will bring him back to visit.”

David has been cared for at the Home of Hope Orphan Care Centre near Zambia ever since his mother died after childbirth complications, reports BBC News.
