Madonna tops singles and albums charts

And there's new entries from White Stripes and The Darkness

Madonna will be celebrating tonight as she tops both the UK singles and albums charts.

’Hung Up’ remains at Number One in the UK singles chart for a second week, while her new album ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ goes straight to the top – ahead of a Greatest Hits compilation by Take That.

Elsewhere in the singles chart there’s new entries for Black Eyed Peas with ’My Humps at Number Three, Girls Aloud with ’Biology’ at Number Four and Will Young with ’Switch It On’ at Number Five.

Other notable new entries come from The Darkness whose long-awaited comeback single ’One Way Ticket’ makes it to Number Eight, one place ahead of Arctic Monkeys ’I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, which remains inside the Top Ten for a fifth week.

The White Stripes new single ’The Denial Twist is also a Top Ten hit.
