MADONNA has opened the UK leg of her ’RE-INVENTION’ tour in MANCHESTER.

The legendary singer started her UK tour last night at the Manchester Evening News Arena (August 14), her first date in the city since a legendary gig at the Hacienda in 1984.

As well as a run-through of her most famous hits including ’Holiday’, ’Into The Groove’ and ’Vogue’, Madonna also covered John Lennon’s ’Imagine’.

Introducing the song, she said: “This song was written 35 years ago but it could have been written yesterday. It’s interesting how history keeps on repeating itself.”
