Madonna defeated in the charts

Her single and album are both off the top spots

Madonna’s double chart double has been defeated by the combined might of Pussycat Dolls and Eminem.

Pop’s dancefloor superstar had been hoping to make it three consecutive weeks on top of the singles and albums charts.

But ‘Hung Up’ has been displaced, with the Pussycat Dolls‘Stickwitchu’ ending a three week run and ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ makes way for fellow Detroit musician Eminem and his ‘Curtain Call’ greatest hits collection.

Meanwhile, Oasis score another massive hit, with ‘Let There Be Love’ crashing into the chart at two, while Babyshambles are in at six with ‘Albion’.

Elsewhere on the chart, The Futureheads are new at 18 with ‘Area’ and further down the chart, Sigur Ros are new at 35 with ‘Hoppipolla’ and Anthony and the Johnsons at 39 with ‘You Are My Sister’.
