The Midge Ure-organised show will be themed on 'Great British Musicals'...
MADONNA is to headline a LIVE AID-style benefit gig to raise funds for childrens’ AIDS charity RED HOT AIDS CHARITABLE TRUST at CARDIFF MILLENNIUM STADIUM on October 20.
According to The Sun newspaper today (June 27), the show, which is being organised by Ultravox frontman Midge Ure who along with Bob Geldof was one of the organisers of 1985’s Live Aid Wembley concert, will be themed on ‘Great British Musicals’, with artists singing songs from musicals backed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
The event will raise funds for children with AIDS. Ure told the newspaper: “I hope to get Robbie Williams doing something from ‘Les Miserables’.”
Each artist is expected to perform two or three songs, with Madonna expected to sing songs from ‘Evita’.
