Mick Jones: ‘Malcolm McLaren was a huge influence on The Clash’

Guitarist speaks out about late Sex Pistols manager

The Clash‘s Mick Jones has spoken about the passing of Malcolm McLaren and how he influenced his old band.

McLaren died of cancer yesterday (April 8). Jones told NME.COM how sad he was about his death and credited the mogul, who used to manage the Sex Pistols, with helping to shape his career in music.

“I was terribly saddened to hear the news,” he said. “Malcolm was a huge influence on The Clash and on everything I have done. I will miss him dearly.”

Alan McGee, former head of Creation Records, today told NME Radio that hearing of McLaren’s death felt like a “really serious kick in the balls”.
