Man re-arrested over death of young woman at Bestival

Louelle Eve Fletcher-Michie died at last year's festival

A man who was originally arrested on suspicion of murdering a young woman at Bestival last year has been re-arrested on suspicion of her manslaughter.

The body of Louelle Eve Fletcher-Michie, 25, was discovered in a wooded area on the edge of the Bestival site at 1am on September 11.

Dorset Police say that a 28-year-old man, known to Ms Michie, has been arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences and manslaughter.

He was previously detained on suspicion of murder, before being released while enquiries continued.

An initial post-mortem examination revealed no clear signs of assault.

Ms Michie was the daughter of Holby City actor John Michie, who said that his family had “lost an angel” after her death was announced.

“We’ve lost our angel. It’s not murder – they were friends. It was just a tragic mistake, a tragic accident. She touched so many lives. She was so very positive, so bright, so out there. She had such energy. The tributes to her have been incredible”, he said.

Other tributes came from rapper Loyle Carner, who revealed that he had known Ms Michie since a young age.

The incident also prompted Bestival to issue a no-tolerance policy on drugs.

“Bestival has a Zero Tolerance drugs policy”, the statement confirmed.

“We are very clear in the guidelines set out to both fans and staff about the procedures we have in place, as agreed with key stakeholders involved in the running of the event.”
