Nicky Wire’s brother’s poetry reading stopped by Christians

Waterstones worried Patrick Jones would cause a disruption

The brother of Manic Street PreachersNicky Wire had his poetry reading stopped by a Christian group.

Patrick Jones was due to read exerts from his book ‘Darkness Is Where The Stars Are’ at a Waterstone’s in Cardiff, but the store pulled the reading as they feared it would be disrupted by Christians who opposed the book.

Waterstone’s made the decision after Christian Voice said members would express opposition to Jones‘ book – which is critical about religions such as Christianity’s take on women and homosexuality.

Patrick Jones told The Daily Telegraph: “I can’t believe this is happening. This is a free country.”
