Bradfield played acoustic versions of ‘If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next’ and new single ‘Ocean Spray’ for the afternoon show, while Nicky was interviewed about his love for Tottenham Hotspur and his terraced house in the Welsh Valleys.

Wire said: “When I was young the cup final seemed like the thing for me. I didn’t care about the league or anything. Being a Tottenham fan the Cup Final was more important than anything.

“Sean (Moore) is going to the match because he’s a massive Liverpool fan, but I’m going to just close the curtains, get some peanuts and have a shandy. That’s my tradition for a cup final.”

And speaking of his Valleys home he said: “I just like living in a shithole – let’s get it out in the open… I can’t be bothered to move. I couldn’t live any other way. I enjoy boredom! I’m never home anyway. You know, the rock’n’roll lifestyle.”
