Carey had previously been tied with Presley at 17 hits, but the new single from her forthcoming album ‘E=MC2’, due out on April 16, put her in the lead.
“I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionised music but also changed the world,” Carey told the Associated Press. “That’s a completely different era and time… I’m just feeling really happy and grateful.”
Meanwhile, Madonna also set a record this week, passing the King for the greatest number of Top 10 hits with ‘4 Minutes’, her 37th hit.
