The star brings drama to the Carling Weekend: Leeds festival...

MARILYN MANSON brought the first real drama to the CARLING WEEKEND LEEDS FESTIVAL today (August 26).

Playing as second headline to Iron Maiden on the main stage tonight, the antichrist superstar strutted around on a gigantic pair of stilts while throwing out a decade’s worth of hits, including ‘Fight Music’ and ‘The Beautiful People.

Cover versions made up nearly as much of the set as original songs, with ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’, ‘Tainted Love’ and a closing ‘Suicide Is Painless’ all getting an airing. Although his most recent cover, of Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’, did not.

But Manson said nothing from the stage, maintaining an enigmatic silence as rumours of his imminent retirement from performance continue to circulate. It is said that the controversial star is keen to pursue a career as a film maker.
