Goth shocker cancels Denver show as goth-bashing in US media reaches fever pitch...
Marilyn Manson has cancelled his show in Denver, Colorado at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, planned for April 30 following links being made between the murders in Littleton and Manson‘s music.
Police siezed CDs belonging to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and are investigating whether or not there are others amongst their group of “alienated outsiders” who may be involved in bomb making activities.
Manson himself issued a statement which read
” I have been asked to comment by various organisations on the Colorado school tragedy. It’s tragic and disgusting any time young people’s lives are taken in an act of senseless violence. My condolences go out to their families.”
The media in the US and in Britain has been saturated by hysterical – and often laughably inaccurate – features explaining ‘goth’ and ‘industrial’ music to their readers. The Guardian today went down this road with a two page feature asking “did goth culture turn two teenagers into killers?”
