Grace Jones and Empire Of The Sun also take to the stage at Polish event
Massive Attack headlined day two of the Heineken Open’er Festival last night (July 2) with a set that saw the duo perform a host of tracks from their recent album ‘Heligoland’ alongside hits ‘Teardrop’ and ‘Girl I Love You’.
Fans ran from the other stages to make sure they didn’t miss the Bristol duo’s show on the Main Stage at the European festival in Gdynia.
“It’s great playing here at sunset, thank you,” said Daddy G as he stood in front of the flashing white and red light panels at the back of the stage.
During the show the band played two tracks from their recent album including ‘Babel’ and ‘Splitting The Atom’ before they wrapped up their performance with ‘Atlas Air’.
Massive Attack played:
‘Girl I Love You’
‘Splitting The Atom’
‘Safe From Harm’
Over on the Tent Stage, Klaxons topped the bill playing a mixture of songs from debut ‘Myths Of The Near Future’ and forthcoming album ‘Surfing The Void’ including crowd favourites ‘Magick’ and new single ‘Echoes’.
The band seemed surprised by the reaction from the audience, with lead singer Jamie Reynolds telling them: “From the front to the back, you’ve been absolutely crazy, thank you.”
Earlier that day Grace Jones battled technical problems to play to a packed crowd who struggled to fit into the marquee.
“We’ve had some technical difficulties. Can you fix it because I want to shoot everybody here?” she moaned before pushing on with a crowd pleasing set which included ‘Pull Up To The Bumper’ and ‘Nightclubbing’.
Later, Pavement took to the stage for a 1am show which included singles ‘Stereo’ and ‘Shady Lane’.
Over on the Main Stage, Empire Of The Sun closed the music opening their performance with ‘Don’t Want To Talk’ before playing ‘We Are The People’ and ‘Walking On A Dream’ for a theatrical show which saw the band wearing their trademark head dresses.
