Paul Smith attacks cash-obsessed bands
Maximo Park’s Paul Smith has criticised his rivals for putting cash ahead of art.
The frontman took a swipe a new acts for being obsessed with making money, not making music.
“There’s too many people trying to be like something else to fit in and make money,” he told the Daily Record. “I was never in a band to make money, I was in it to do the best for myself and to play alongside other people who have the same ideas.”
He added: “Whatever kind of music you make, you just do it for the love of it and feel like you’re not being taken advantage of. There’s always music industry types who try to change your songs.”
