Singer plans to wed before California vote on gay marriage law
Melissa Etheridge has said that she plans to marry her girlfriend before Californians vote next month on the gay marriage law.
The singer said in a recent interview that she and her partner Tammy Lynn Michaels intend to wed before the November election in which voters may revoke the marriage right of same-sex couples to marry.
“Yes, we have four children and we’re trying to find the right time,” Etheridge said when asked about marriage during an interview with Extra, reports the Associated Press.
Last May, the California Supreme Court granted the right of marriage to same-sex couples, but some California residents opposing the decision have written a proposition that would amend the state constitution to prohibit gay marriage.
Etheridge has two children with her former partner Julie Cypher and twins with Michaels.
