A North American jaunt is announced - then is it on to Reading and Leeds?...

METALLICA, LINKIN PARK and LIMP BIZKIT are to tour North America together this summer – sparking rumours that the metal giants will all play this year’s CARLING WEEKEND at READING and LEEDS.

The bands will all play headlining length sets on the Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003. The 18-date tour will also feature Mudvayne, who will be the opening act each night, according to [url=]metallica.com.

Metallica

will release new album ‘St. Anger’ on June 10 (June 9 in UK), shortly before the tour. It’s the band’s first album since 1997’s ‘Re-Load’, and first since the 2001 departure of bassist Jason Newsted. The group have already confirmed their appearance at the Carling Weekend in Leeds (August 22) and Reading (August 24), while Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, a hit at the 2000 festival, have long been rumoured to be appearing.

Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park will also release new albums before the tour – Limp Bizkit ‘s ‘Lessismore’ is pencilled in for May, while Linkin Park‘s ‘Meteora’ is scheduled for release on March 25 (March 24 in UK).

Both Metallica and Limp Bizkit will be looking to augment their line-ups before the tour, requiring a bassist and guitarist respectively.
