'Bring it on!' says the drummer of Metallica about the challenge
Earlier this year lookalikes Ferrell and Smith engaged in a light-hearted challenge on The Tonight Show. The pair dressed identically in jeans and Kiss T-shirts for the occasion.
Speaking to Spin about the night and future battles Ferrell said: “I mean, we did talk about another drum-off.” Ferrell explained: “With a third person that looks eerily similar to Chad and I. A third drummer out there … Lars gets pissed because he gets mistaken for both me and Chad Smith. He can settle that score now, too.”
Ulrich has now responded to the challenge, saying: “Bring it on!!!”. In a statement released to Spin, Ulrich commented: “I’m sure that with a bit of practice, I could give Chad a run for his money. But Will? That’s a whole different story. He rules the “bad-ass drummer universe.” I mean, you’re talking about a guy who’s so next level, actually, so beyond next level, that he may just be completely unreachable! That said, I’m definitely up for the challenge…Bring it on!!!”
Ferrell was declared the winner in the first drum-off after bringing out a cowbell and playing along to the song ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’, originally by Blue Oyster Cult, referencing his famous ‘More cowbell’ sketch from Saturday Night Live, which aired in 2000.
