MIA forced to cut short Big Chill Festival headline set due to stage invasion

Fans' 'overwhelming demand' forces MIA to end her set early

MIA was forced to end her headline set at the Big Chill Festival early last night (August 7) after roughly 200 people invaded the stage during ‘Paper Planes’.

Although MIA had asked festival goers to join her on stage at the Herefordshire festival, a spokesperson later admitted that the singer hadn’t expected quite so many people to take up her offer.

Festival organisers Tweeted the following about the incident: “A spokesperson for MIA thanked the wonderful audience at the Big Chill for the fantastic reception received and apologised for having to cut the set short due to overwhelming demand for fans to come on stage when only a few were expected.”

The festival has also seen performances from the likes of Thom Yorke and Broken Bells, while Lily Allen is set to close proceedings tonight.
