Michael Franti will play for San Quentin inmates
Michael Franti has announced he will play a show at San Quentin State Prison in northern California later this month.

Performing for 2,000 people Franti is also petitioning to have the event broadcast for death row inmates at the prison via closed circuit television.
In 2005, the politically-aware singer won the Best International Documentary Award at the Harlem International Film Festival for his film about the Iraq war ‘I Know I’m Not Alone’.
In March, he performed for injured soldiers at Washington’s Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Franti is scheduled to play the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee next month.
