The star’s new greatest hits package sells just 8,000 copies Stateside…

Michael Jackson’s latest greatest hits album has sold just 8,000 copies in its first week of release Stateside.

’The Essential Michael Jackson’ limped in at 128 in the charts, and is the singer’s first release since he was cleared of child abuse on June 13.

The two-CD album shot to Number Two in the UK charts but in the US, Now 19 proved to be the biggest selling record, shifting 436,000 copies in its first seven days.

Michael Jackson has sold more than 135 million albums during his career.

’Thriller’ sold 60 million copies alone, while his last original album ’Invincible’ has sold two million since its’ release in 2001.
