MIDWEEK PLACINGS SPINNING AROUND

The gap stands at 1,502 copies...

MICHAEL JACKSON has overtaken KYLIE in the battle for this week?s Number One single.

Jackson released ‘You Rock My World’ on Monday (October 8), and midweek sales figures published earlier today (10) show that it?s sold 31,059 copies compared to Kylie‘s 29,557.

A spokesman for HMV in London predicted that Jackson would be at Number One this Sunday. “With the big Saturday sales push, he should see off Kylie?s challenge. His sales demonstrate that there is a very strong fanbase for Jackson and this will give his album, out on October 29, a boost. With the Christmas season coming up, the album will be one of the biggest sellers of the year.”

Other new entries in the Top Ten this week are set to be Usher‘s ‘You Got It Bad’, which is currently at Number Five, The Ones’ ‘Flawless’ at Number Seven and Linkin Park?s ‘In The End’ at Number Eight.
