R&B singer is forced to apologise after dramatic stage move backfires
Singer Miguel was left red faced at last night’s Billboard Awards (May 19) after landing on a fan when a dramatic stage dive went wrong.
The R&B singer was performing his track ‘Adorn’ live at the Las Vegas ceremony when he attempted to jump over the fans in front of him and onto a separate part of the stage. However, miscalculating his dive, Miguel landed on two girls stood closest to the stage he was aiming to land on. The singer’s right leg landed on one girl’s head while his left side bashed into another onlooker.
Speaking to Billboard after the incident, Miguel was joined by one of the girls he landed on who was holding an ice pack on her arm. Discussing the fall, Miguel said: “Well, I think it’s kind of clear what happened. But I’m very happy to bring my new friend, Khyati, we just met. Unfortunately we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we’re OK.”
The singer, who went on to perform with Prince later on in the ceremony, added: “The crazy thing is, when you’re performing and you’re just kind of into it, you never know where it’s gonna go and where you’re gonna go with it, and how that might turn out,” he said. “So this is one of the less favorable moments.”
