Alyson Stoner appeared in videos for 'Work It' and 'Gossip Folks' over ten years ago
Alyson Stoner, who starred in a number of Missy Elliott videos as a child, has paid tribute to her childhood fame in a tribute video to the single ‘Work It’.
In the video, which you can see below, Stoner (now 21) recreates the moves she executed as a child. ‘Work It’ was released in 2002 and speaking to Buzzfeed, Stoner has fond memories of the video shoot.
“My favorite video to film was ‘Work It’ because it began the incredible road ahead,” she said. “Missy was protective and thoughtful of us kids, removing us from the mature scenes and using the clean version when we filmed. To this day, I remember vividly Missy Elliott, Ludacris, and my grandma riding in a golf cart to set. My grandma went back to Ohio and told her bowling friends, ‘Guess what? I was riding to set with Missy and Ridiculous!'”
Now an actress, musician and dance, Stoner added: “When Missy comes on the radio or in public, I immediately pause, feel so sentimental, and start replaying memories in my head.”
Missy Elliott last released an album in 2005 in the form of ‘The Cookbook’ but has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity so far in 2015 after her surprise appearance at the Super Bowl earlier this month (February 1).
The rapper joined Katy Perry during the American Football extravaganza’s halftime show at the Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, performing a medley of her hits ‘Get Ur Freak On’, ‘Work It’ and ‘Lose Control’. Scroll down to watch the set.
Such was the impact of her spot that Elliott’s album sales have risen by 2,500 per cent, while the three singles she performed collectively enjoyed a 978 percent jump, equating to 71,000 songs sold.
