Prompted by her music’s reappearance on various charts, the 43-year-old expressed her gratitude on Twitter earlier this week. “Seeing my songs in the top 10 & albums bk on the charts makes me so humbled! Thank y’all shows that real music is TIMELESS,” she posted.

It’s been 10 years since the release of Elliott’s last studio album ‘The Cookbook’. In February 2014 she spoke about the hiatus, saying that when she returns her music has to be “special”.

“When I create something, its gotta be special, and it can’t just be to throw something out there because I feel like I’m Missy,” she told The Yo Show. “I gotta feel like what I’m giving the fans is 100 per cent and that it’s game-changing. I don’t just throw out microwave records.”
