Elliott's latest was recorded for a Super Bowl advert, and features former American football star Dan Marino
Missy Elliott has dropped a new track ‘Pep Rally’, recorded for an Amazon advert that will feature on American TV during tonight’s (February 7) Super Bowl.
The track is Super Bowl themed, with its accompanying Amazon promo video featuring former Miami Dolphin’s quarterback Dan Marino, widely recognised as one of the sport’s all-time greats despite never winning a Super Bowl. The ad also stars actors Alec Baldwin and Jason Schwartzman.
Elliott has a history with the Super Bowl, having appeared alongside Katy Perry and the internet-famous left shark in February of last year, performing ‘Get Ur Freak On’, ‘Work It’ and ‘Lose Control’ during the half time show.

And here’s the Super Bowl Amazon advert it’s taken from, which calls itself an ‘Alec Baldwin game day party’:
The new track is Elliott’s first since Pharrell collaboration ‘WTF (Where They From?)‘ (and her second new track since 2012), with the singer also crediting her return to Pharrell.
In an interview with the Guardian in November, she explained:
“I’d most definitely say that Pharrell was the captain of the ship – he asked me to perform with him last year at the BET Awards, and then Katy Perry asked me to do the Super Bowl with her. After the Super Bowl, I think I was in shock. I was getting mad calls: “Do you see what’s goin’ on?” “Do you see what people are sayin’?”
“By that point I was back at my house washing dishes and vacuuming my floor! I’ve got my scarf on my head! And then Pharrell called. He said: “If you would have it, I would like to get in the studio with you.” And I was like: “This is Pharrell, am I gonna be non-busy? I’m vacuuming my floor!” So I said OK.”
