MOBY, SANTANA AXE HONG KONG GIGS

The killer virus scare means more shows are cancelled...

They join the likes of The Rolling Stones and veteran American crooner Andy Williams, who have postponed concerts in South Asia because of the outbreak of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus.

Mobyhas postponed dates in Singapore tomorrow (April 1) and Hong Kong on Thursday (3), but in a statement on his official website [url=]moby.com he apologised to fans and said he would reschedule the gigs when the health scare had died down.

Carlos Santana switched his April 11 concert from Hong Kong to Osaka, Japan where he will perform to a 1,500 strong audience. Andy Williams has also rescheduled a concert in Hong Kong from April 12 to June 6 because he did not want his band risking their health.

The SARS virus has affected a suspected 425 people in Hong Kong, with 12 deaths reported, and affected a suspected 1,550 people worldwide after first surfacing in southern China in November.
