Mogwai joined by special guest at London show

Scots band are watched by My Bloody Valentine and Dirty Pretty Things

Mogwai were joined by a special guest as they kicked off the Summer Series of outdoor shows at London’s Somerset House last night (July 12).

The Scots post-rockers, playing with a surround sound system in the venue’s courtyard, welcomed vocalist Aidan Moffat, formerly of Arab Strap. About halfway through the set. He took lead vocals on ‘Are U Still In 2 It?’, a track he also sung on Mogwai‘s 1997 debut LP ‘Mogwai Young Team’.

Mogwai, watched by My Bloody Valentine‘s Kevin Shields and Dirty Pretty ThingsDidz Hammond, played a career-spanning set which included favourites like ‘Come On Die Young’, ‘Hunted By A Freak’ and ‘Friend Of The Night’, which was their first Top 40 hit, reaching 32 in early 2006.

As well as the surround sound, Mogwai‘s set-up featured an impressive light show, with green strobes lighting up the courtyard, which is situated on The Strand just by the River Thames.
