Morrissey to champion new talent on tour

The former Smith picks newcomers to join him on the road

Morrissey is using his forthcoming European tour to champion new talent.

The former Smiths singer, who made his proper live return at the South By South West festival last week (March 16), has revealed that he has asked upcoming Londoners The Boyfriends to support him on his forthcoming tour.

As previously reported, Morrissey made a rare appearance last month to watch The Boyfriends when they played the London Metro, and has since signed up the band.

“Being asked to do these shows is a bit like someone stepping out of a poster on your bedroom wall and shaking your hand,” said Boyfriends singer Martin Wallace of the request.

They will feature on the following Morrissey dates:

Gothenburg Scandinavium (April 1)

Stockholm Hovet (2)

Helsinki Cable Hall(4)

Oslo Sentrum Scene (6)

Malmo Blatiska Hallen (7)

Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall (10)

Paris Olympia (11)

Killarney INEC (13)

Dublin Olympia (15,16)

Meanwhile The Boyfriends release new single ‘Adult Acne’ on May 8.
