The Motorheadphones range is already available in Europe
Lemmy has launched a line of Motorhead branded headphones in the United States.
Specifically made for listening to rock music, the all-metal headphones – called Motorheadphones – have been available in Europe since last autumn but will begin shipping the US in April, writes Hollywood Reporter.
“People say we’ve never sold out. No one ever approached us,” said Lemmy, at the US launch earlier this week.
Designed with rock’n’roll music in mind, the headphones hone in on mid-range sounds rather than bass, like Dr Dre‘s phenomenally successful Beats range.
“It’s like you’re listening through a towel,” said Lemmy of bass orientated headphones.

The Motorheadphones website says the headphones were conceived because: “There was nothing which allowed for the heavy rock experience, nothing which could accommodate the crushing power of loud rock’n’roll.”
Last year, Lemmy spoke out about plans for Motorhead’s forthcoming 40th anniversary, which will take place in 2015.
The metal legend said: “We’ll think of something; we always do – probably involving naked women or something.”
He added of the band’s longevity: “We’ve been lucky; we’ve been around so long people realise they can’t get us to go away, so they’ve just decided to join us. You might not like what we do, but we do what we do very well.”
