The band will be taking over three venues for comedy, live music and DJ sets this Saturday (June 2)
Mumford and Sons have revealed details of the official aftershow events for their Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover festival in Huddersfield this Saturday (June 2).
After the main event in Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park, where Michael Kiwanuka, Willy Mason, The Correspondents and Nathaniel Rateliff will support, the band will be taking over a number of venues in town.
Writing on their official blog, the band say:
So the night does not end in Greenhead Park. Think of the exodus from the park more as half time, as the Stopover gears up for the second half with a few uniquely different and great events in the centre of Huddersfield. We will be running between all of the events, but as is often the case, we’ll probably all end up at The House Party at The Other Rooms…
The events include:
The Other Rooms House Party, which will see Mumford and Sons’ trumpeter Nick Etwell’s band The Filthy Six playing “boogaloo/funk/soul/musicyoucannotstandstillto”, alongside local band The Rag Tags. Tickets will be available on the door. The Other Rooms, Queensgate, Huddersfield, HD1 2RD.
Comedy at Club 122, which will see sets from Dominic Woodward, Alfie Brown and Piff The Magic Dragon. Tickets will be available on the door. Bar 122, 120 New Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2UD.
Tokyo Nightclub, where Mumford and Sons’ keyboard player Ben Lovett will play a DJ set of his favourite songs from the “golden year of naughties indie, 2006 (The Strokes, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys)”. Tickets will be available on the door. The Old Courthouse, Queen Street, Huddersfield HD1 2SP.
The second Gentlemen of the Road Stopover festival happens on June 9 at Galway’s Salthill Park, with The Vaccines, Zulu Winter, Nathaniel Rateliff, Willy Mason and The Correspondents booked to play the event.
Earlier this week it was revealed that The Maccabees, Gogol Bordello, Haim, St Vincent, The Very Best, Two Gallants, Dawes, Justin Townes Earle and Simone Felice will all be joining Mumford and Sons on the road in North America, to play the band’s Stateside Gentlemen of the Road Stopover one-day festivals.
The US shows will take place in August, ahead of the release of the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Sigh No More’ on September 24. Mumford and Sons will play Portland, Maine The Eastern Promenade (August 4), Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee State Street (11), Dixon, Illinois Page Park (18) and Monterey, California Monterey County Fairgrounds (24).
