The folk band have collaborated with singer Birdy for their new offering
Mumford & Sons will release a new track titled ‘Learn Me Right’ as part of the soundtrack to the new Pixar film Brave.
‘Learn Me Right’ has been written, arranged and produced by the band, but features singer Birdy providing vocals.
Speaking about the track, the band’s frontman Marcus Mumford said: “It’s quite fun doing a song for a movie rather than for an album. We liked the idea of having an orchestra in the background and having a girl like Birdy sing – it’s been quite liberating.”
Pixar’s Katherine Safarian also praised the band’s effort, saying: “‘Learn Me Right’ is an amazing song. I feel something every time I hear it. Mumford & Sons sketched out a piece that would do justice to the culminating moment of the movie, underscoring the emotion, heart and the lessons learned between mother and daughter. They really found that moment of truth in the story we were trying to tell and it takes the movie to a new level at the end.”
Brave is entirely animated and features the voices of Kelly MacDonald, Julie Fowlis, Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson. It will be released into UK cinemas on June 22, with the soundtrack released four days earlier on June 19.
The film tells the story of a young girl named Merida, who is looking to change the path of her life instead of following her mother’s wish to marry someone in their kingdom. You can watch the trailer for the film by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.
Mumford & Sons tour the UK this summer, road testing new tracks from their as yet untitled second studio album.
