Hear Mumford & Sons frontman collaborate with Oscar Isaac on 'Fare Thee Well (Dink's Song)
The first taste of Mumford and Sons frontman Marcus Mumford’s contribution to the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack has been revealed online.
‘Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)’ can be heard above and sees Mumford collaborate with Oscar Isaac, who plays the lead role in the new Coen Brothers film, due for release in December. The film’s official soundtrack will be available from November 12. Produced by T Bone Burnett, the soundtrack also features appearances from Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan as well as the Punch Brothers, Dave Van Ronk and Bob Dylan.
The Coen Brothers will host a concert this Sunday (September 29) to promote the film, which focuses on the folk scene in New York in the 1960s. Marcus Mumford will perform as well as appearances by Jack White, Joan Baez, the Avett Brothers and Colin Meloy at the Another Day Another Time concert.
Meanwhile, Mumford and Sons have announced plans to take “a considerable amount of time off”. The band completed their tour promoting second album ‘Babel’ in Bonner Springs, Kansas on Friday night (September 20). Speaking earlier in the week, keyboard player Ben Lovett revealed: “There won’t be any Mumford & Sons activities for the foreseeable future following Friday’s show.”
Asked exactly how much time the band are planning to take off, Lovett replied: “We have no idea. We just know we’re going to take a considerable amount of time off and just go back to hanging out and having no commitments or pressure or anything like that. It feels like the last week of school right now, before school holiday when you’re in high school. The atmosphere on the road is one of… I think everyone’s excited about being free of schedules.”
Mumford & Sons released their debut album ‘Sigh No More’ in 2009 and followed it with last year’s ‘Babel’, which debuted at Number One on the UK’s Official Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200 in September of last year (2012). The band have toured extensively in support of both albums and delivered headline sets at Glastonbury and T In The Park earlier this summer.
