Mumford & Sons and The Vaccines appear as John Fogerty’s impromptu backing band

The former Creedence Clearwater Revival man played the last-minute gig in Florida on Saturday night

John Fogerty – formerly of classic rock legends Creedence Clearwater Revival – played a set with Mumford & Sons and The Vaccines as his backing band.

The show took place on Mumford & Sons’ current tour of North America, in St. Augustine, Florida on Saturday night (September 14), after fun. pulled out of the event, following doctor’s advice. The last-minute performance at the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover event saw the hastily arranged supergroup playing a host of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s most well-known hits, including ‘Bad Moon Rising’, ‘Down On The Corner, ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Lodi’ and ‘Have You Ever Seen The Rain?’, reports Jam Bands. Marcus Mumford reportedly told the crowd that he was alright with fun.’s no-show “because John Fogerty was fucking awesome”. Prior to the gig, fun. released a statement explaining their reasons for cancelling their performance, writing: “Due to doctor’s advice, fun. unfortunately regrets to announce they will no longer be appearing at the Gentlemen of the Road festival this Saturday with Mumford & Sons. The band is very disappointed as they have been looking forward to this festival all summer. It is the band’s hope Nate’s voice will get the proper rest it needs in order to avoid any further cancellations. Fun would like to thank all the fans and Mumford & Sons for their understanding.”
