Muse help Brad Pitt ‘unleash’ new film ‘World War Z’ with London premiere gig

The band have also contributed to the soundtrack of the eagerly-anticipated zombie movie

Muse gave a free concert for 15,000 people at the premiere of World War Z in London last night (June 2).

The band have contributed a large amount of music to the film, which stars Brad Pitt as a former UN investigator attempting to save the world from a pandemic threatening to wipe out the human race. To mark the launch of World War Z in the UK, Muse took to the stage at Horse Guards Parade Ground, St. James’s Park, after the film screened in London’s Leicester Square.

Speaking to BBC Radio 6Music at the event, Pitt said that Muse’s performance helped him to “unleash” World War Z in the UK and explained how the band came to work on the film’s soundtrack. “We were looking for a ‘Tubular Bells’, which if you remember is the theme song from The Exorcist,” Pitt recalled. “We wanted to find something that had that same kind of feeling. Lo and behold, these guys, our friends Muse, were reading the [World War Z) book at the same time they were writing their album ‘The 2nd Law’. “
