Frontman reveals tot's name has 'family connections'

Muse‘s Matt Bellamy and his actress fiancée Kate Hudson have named their newborn son Bingham ‘Bing’ Hawn Bellamy.

The frontman announced the tot’s moniker on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/mattbellamy, following his birth on Saturday (July 9).

Bellamy explained that the name has “family connections” – his mum’s maiden name was Bingham, while Bing was also Kurt Russell‘s dad’s name.

Hudson was raised by Russell after her mum Goldie Hawn started dating the Hollywood legend in 1983.

Recalling baby Bingham‘s birth, Bellamy wrote: “Mum and baby are strong and healthy. Mum was a warrior, Bing popped out after 4.5 hours of intense pushing!” He also confirmed the tot’s birth weight as 7lbs 12oz.

Reports have suggested the couple will spend the next few weeks at their home in London, where Muse are currently recording their new album.

Earlier this year, it was widely reported that the Devon trio would begin work on the follow-up to 2009’s ‘The Resistance’ without Bellamy as he would be spending time with his son, but the band have since denied this is the case.

Muse headline Reading And Leeds Festivals at the end of the summer.
