Festival organisers ‘ecstatic’ at event’s success

And it's already all systems go for Reading and Leeds 2007

Organisers of The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals have declared themselves “ecstatic” at the success of this year’s event.

The bash ended last night (August 27) with headline sets from Pearl Jam at Reading and Muse at Leeds.

Mean Fiddler Managing Director Melvin Benn said of this year’s event: “What a weekend. Two cities, Reading and Leeds, 214 different bands and performers playing in each city to a massive 200,000 people.”

He added: “Great weather, great music and great fans. To say I am happy would not even be scratching the surface. I am ecstatic, as were the bands and the fans.”

‘Early bird’ Tickets for the 2007 event are on sale from 10am tomorrow (August 29) – go to NME.COM/Gigs.
