The rock legend looks back to 1971
Neil Young is set to release another classic archive gig on CD.
’Live at Massey Hall’, out on March 13,was recorded at the Toronto venue in January 1971, and sees Young performing solo.
Speaking about the release, Young says producer David Briggs urged him to release the Massey Hall version of ’Harvest’ instead of the studio version which appeared on the classic 1972 album.
He says: “I was very excited about the takes we got on ’Harvest’ and wanted ’Harvest’ out. David disagreed. As I listen to this today, I can see why.”
Meanwhile Young is set to release ’Archives Volume 1’ in the autuman, the much-mooted project the singer has talked about for decades.
The collection will compromise eight CDs and two DVDs of unreleased live and studio material as well as memorabilia. An exact release date has yet to be announced, reports Billboard.
