Peter Hook speaks after saying band were over
New Order’s Peter Hook has posted online regarding the break-up of the legendary band.
As previously reported Hook told Xfm’s Clint Boon about the split and when asked if it was permanent he said: “Bernard (Sumner) went off for a break with Electronic, but that was different. But it’s like the boy who cried wolf this time.”
On his Myspace blog Hook has now posted about the interview, where he inadvertently revealed the split.
He wrote: “I suppose it was the interview with Clint Boon that started it all off. He’d asked me for a few words on Perry Farrell’s Satellite Party single… so I went on and lo and behold mentioned the N.O (New Order) split.
“So I suppose because it was me saying it, it was out at last. I’m relieved really. (I) hated carrying on as normal with an awful secret so let’s move on shall we?”
Hook added he had been surprised by reaction to the split.
He wrote: “Some kid came up and gave me a hug and said: ‘Sorry to hear about New Order, Hooky.’ I was really touched – it’s like your budgie dying!”
